SNZ CLUB OF THE YEAR WINNERS 2019

For those of you who don't know, Pirates walked away with the club of the year award this past Saturday in Auckland! It is with great pleasure to announce this fantastic news and to thank all involved in achieving this milestone.
We came a long way this year on the back of the financial turn around and increased membership in 2018. We have also been praised by Squash New Zealand on the selection of our submission in terms of this award this year as it was something on quite a new level. I would like to thank everyone that had even a small part in the past 2 years in contributing to the club in terms of donation, time and effort. It is not always easy taking time away from the families for a good cause and that I need to acknowledge. Many thanks to all those partners of the members that allowed them to dedicate their momentous contributions, it is surely appreciated. It is with great pleasure to announce that we received $25000 from the Lions Foundation, $3000 from The Otago Community Trust and a further $3000 from The Southern Trust from the Grant applications .
There will be some changes to the club this year including upgrades and maintenance of the capital projects the funding will be applied to from the grants received. For those who like some more information in terms of this, you are welcome to attend the AGM which will be held on the 14th of March 2020. Gareth van Coller, our President will elaborate on project "Shipshape" at the meeting to inform everyone where the "Black Pearl" and all its Pirates are headed. BLACK PEARL SERIESThis year we are combining our 4 tournaments into a series.
Points are earned by participation as well as performance throughout the year in the 4 Pirates tournaments. There are 2 prizes - 1st $400 - 2nd $100 this will be determined at the last Pirates tournament in November. |
